live and learn... again (day 24)

Ever have one of those days where you feel like the world is talking to you? I'm having one of those weeks. I wake up early each morning and listen very quietly to see if I can hear what it is saying but all I hear are dogs barking, birds singing, and cars driving by. Maybe I need a box of cracker jacks or expensive cereal to see if I can find one of those magical decoders. Maybe then I will be able to decipher the message... until then I'll keep listening until the murmurs become so shouts and the obvious knocks me upside the head... that's how it usually works :)

I posted this once upon a time, not long ago, but before beautiful, talented, wonderful people read my blog. Which I am extremely grateful for... I honestly never imagined when I started blogging that anyone would even pay attention to my rambling. And I cannot put into words how much I appreciate those of you who do :)

So I thought I might share this post again. Reading old blog posts is almost like opening a door to your past. I'm the same but different. I've come so far, yet I'm still here. I've learned so much, yet I've so much more to learn....

I didn't write this, but I fell in love with it and wish I did write it.

I've learned that you can tell a lot about a person by the way he/she handles four things:
a rainy day, the elderly, lost luggage, and tangled Christmas tree lights.

I've learned that making a 'living' is not the same thing as making a 'life..'

I've learned that life sometimes gives you a second chance.

I've learned that you shouldn't go through life with a catcher's mitt on both hands. You need to be able to throw  something back sometimes.

I've learned that if you pursue happiness, it will elude you
But, if you focus on your family, your friends, the needs of others,
your work and doing the very best you can, happiness will find you.

I've learned that whenever I decide something with an open heart, I usually make the right decision.

I've learned that even when I have pains, I don't have to be one.

I've learned that every day, you should reach out and touch someone.

People love that human touch -- holding hands, a warm hug, or just a friendly pat on the back.

I've learned that I still have a lot to learn.

  3. Looks like my kind of day, and you're probably reading Eat, Pray, Love... ;) You'll laugh when you read my post, the Universe has been speaking to me too. Quietly, insistently, dropping little hints and reminding me of my chosen priorities. I don't think we only get second chances, I believe each moment is a new chance to change and grow... something that I'm learning is a never-ending process! I feel the same way about the people that read my blog, I was just looking back this morning at the first posts I made, with one lonely comment or two. Now I have this wonderful, amazing group of women around me, I'm thankful every day. :) Keep writing Sara, and I'll keep reading. :)

  7. "I've learned that I still have a lot to learn", yeah, that about sums up my world! I love reading too. I have a bad habit of reading the whole book from start to finish without stopping which puts everything else on hold until I'm done, oh well, that's just how it is! I haven't looked at any of my first posts, I'll have to do that someday.
