What Would Liz Do? (day 6)

Day 06 - A picture of a person you'd love to trade places with for a day

Elizabeth Gilbert
Liz. Yes, we're on a first name basis.

I've read all of her books (except Committed, which is on my list) and I've actually read Eat, Pray, Love three times. I have purchased probably about 10 copies of this book, which I then lend to people (and never get back) so I have to buy another. Strangely enough, this doesn't bother me... I just want everyone to read it because I think it's so amazing.

I can't even describe what the book meant to me... I was so inspired! It is the first and only book I have ever highlighted and written in. There are so  many good quotes, one is even on a painting I did last month. ( which is in the Wine Gallery now, pictures coming soon!)

Eat Pray Love helped me through some rough patches and whenever I find myself in a predicament I often ask myself 'What would Liz do?' She strives for balance and isn't afraid to take risks or try new things. Her words and way of describing things in Eat Pray Love struck a chord deep within me... I often found myself with my jaw open, rereading in amazement, sometimes I swear she knew exactly how I was feeling and put those feelings into a beautiful arrangement of words.

Liz is such an inspiration and true to herself... I would love to be trade places and be a traveler/writer for a day!

btw... hope you all have a beautiful monday... I just had a huge piece of chocolate cake wih white whipped icing for breakfast :) happy monday to me!

  1. I read a book like that "A New Earth" and bought copies for all my family and some friends. It's such an amazing thing to come across a book that speaks to you so directly. It's like Spirit placed it gently in your hands, with a huge smile on her face! I loved "Eat, Pray, Love". Committed was good too, but not in quite the same way. I haven't read any of her other books, I'll have to check them out sometime. Tay's been bugging me to go to the library, I'll have to look Liz up! :)

  2. It's always great to have a book that inspires you like that! I'm not sure if I've got one, but if I did I think it would be "Conversations with God for Teens". Very, very good book! :)

  4. What's the quote that's on the painting? I haven't read this book, I seem to be more into Stephen King, Ann Rice, and fantasty type books but then I'll swing over to the self help new age section, with not much in between!

I haven't even seen the movie and it's been on tv for awhile now. How does the movie stack up to the book? Maybe I'll check it out now that I know how profoundly it affected you. I have a tendency to avoid girly movies...man, I'm kind of a weirdo!
