in search for balance (day 50)

So I tried hatha yoga for the first time last night.

I got to class and was relieved to see that there were only 4 other women in the class, including the instructor. I was the new girl in class and they all knew each other, but they were very nice. The instructor asked me if it was my first time and said that she would carefully explain everything to me. She has been practicing yoga sine the 70's and was very easy to follow.

We started with some stretching and then she walked us through a few poses. My favorite part of the session was an energy balancing session where we visualized energy in our palms and slowly lifted our arms up to our heads then visualized drawing the energy down through our bodies and into the ground. It left my palms tingling and my feet felt heavy, like they were sunk into the floor. The whole class was very calming and I left feeling balanced and relaxed. Balance is something I've been searching for and I'm pretty sure I've been heading in the right direction.

I'm definitely looking forward to next Tuesday night's class!

Hope you all have a beautiful day!

Day 50 (half way done!!!!) - A picture of your most frequented place

For some reason I find laying on the floor more comfortable than the couch... here is Frankie laying on the new living room floor with me :)

  2. I do Hatha yoga every morning! It's the best way to start the day. :) It's been so long since I've done a class though. I think it might be time.

  4. Sounds awesome! I'll have to try that energy balancing trick. Another cool thing to do is to hold your hands in front of you about 18" apart, palms facing each other, slowly bring your hands closer, attention focused on what your feeling in your hands and between your hands, feel the energy becoming more dense and tingly, at about 5" apart, make an energy ball that you can feel with your hands. Then thrust it into your solar plexus for a little booster of energy.

  5. Lol ~ love that picture! It doesn't often happen, but when I find myself having trouble falling asleep, if I curl up on the floor... I'm out in no time! I used to do that energy thing that Laurie talked about, but I never directed the energy anywhere, it was just cool to feel it, I'll have to try the boost! :) Congrats on making it to the halfway point! :)
