a song on sunday (day 68)

Today's song is in honor of the beautiful and talented voice of Amy Winehouse, who was found dead in her home this weekend. Such a tragic and sad end of a life that had so much potential at one time. She may be gone, but her voice is legendary.

Also, I thought I might throw in a few pictures from my Friday night escapade with the girls! We went to a restaurant/bar called Saints in the Plaza District, then we went to a bar called The Prohibition Room, which we found out in closing after this weekend... which is sad because it's so much fun there and they make great drinks. Anyway, here are the pics :) Hope you all had a great weekend!

This could really be a good life (day 67)

Slightly obsessed with this song... I listen to it first thing in the morning and it puts me in such a good mood!

I'd be in a good mood anyway today because I'm going out to dinner tonight with some of my favorite girls to Donate, Dine & Wine... which is my favorite night of the month!

Hope you have a beautiful Friday!

Day 66 - A picture in your room

I have this in a frame in the living room... It's from the Kings of Leon concert a few years ago. Amazing concert!!!

sunday songs (day 54)

oh how I love phantogram.
I seriously listen to them every day and I want to go to Lollapalooza to see them so so so bad!

Day 54 - A picture of the one thing you would bring if you were stranded on a deserted island.

Just think... all that peaceful along time. I'm sure I'd be able to fill about 5 of these with my thoughts!

a song on sunday (day 47)

I fell in love with Dia Frampton's voice while watching The Voice... she has so many great covers on you tube and but this one from the show is one of my favorites :) Isn't her voice beautiful?

Day 47 - A picture of your favorite place to shop

I <3 handmade and supporting other creative souls who make beautiful items makes me happy :)

what i'm into (day 45)

I'm switching it up a little this month :)

what i'm listening to... I discovered Symphonic Pink Floyd on Raige Creations blog and I am seriously in love! My favorite is Time!

what i'm reading... I just finished Fallen by Lauren Kate and Swim Back to Me by Ann Packer. I just bought The Power of Half: One Family's Decision to Stop Taking and Start Giving by Hannah & Kevin Salwen and Wanderlust: A Love Affair with Five Continents by Elisabeth Eaves on my kindle last night. I'm hoping to finish my homework today so I have plenty of time for reading this weekend!

what i'm craving... watermelon, avacado, & saltwater taffy (the real kind that my friend, Courtney, gets for me in Atlantic City!) oh and a brandy old-fashioned with cherries!

what i'm watching... True Blood! and I'll admit it... I am a Big Brother junkie. I look forward to it every summer... only one more week!!!

what i'm dreaming about... oddly enough, I've been dreaming about Wisconsin. I waited so many years to get away and now I always look forward to going back. I'm thinking about planning a trip 'home' in August to spend some time with my family and friends before fall semester starts. Of course, that trip would involve spending a day with at the UW-Madison Union with Miranda. Isn't it gorgeous?!

what i'm looking forward to... finishing up my last 1/2 of summer semester! Flying to Wisconsin (I usually drive... 14 hours... by myself)! Starting a traveling journal with my besties from WI! Getting my 5th tattoo... I've been being patient, but I know what I want and I think it's time!

Day 45 - A picture of your house

and this is what it looked like before we moved in...

hello friday! (day 38)

It's finally Friday!

What a long week... let's celebrate with a little fun friday music :) I adore Walk the Sun!

Day 38 - A picture of the best part of your day.

The best part of my day is crawling into bed at night. I pick a book and read until my eyes won't stay open anymore.

Here's what I'm reading....

monday morning motivation (day 34)

The inspiration for this morning is my obsession with So You Think You Can Dance. It all began a few years ago with this.....

Elisa on So You Think You Can Dance

I guess it was a combination of the music and the movement, as I watched this for the first time, and every time since then I get chills. It's beautiful and so poetic... it's amazing the emotions that movement can evoke. Here are a few photos to motivate and hopefully start your week off on the right foot :)

All of these image came from favim.com except for the first, which I found on fromupnorth.com

I love Phoenix....

Day 33 - A picture of the house you grew up in.

this gives you an idea just how in the country we were :)

for the love of freelance whales (day 26)

I liked freelance whales.... then I watched this video and that like blossomed into a full-blown heart-wrenching undying, uncontrollable love. I'm amazed and inspired by their talent... There's nothing more I can even say to describe this... except please watch/listen to this video....

Day 26 - A picture of yourself and a family member

thank you thursday (day 23)

Day 23 - A picture of something you wish you could change

Where do I start?

I wish I could change...

war - what is it good for? absolutely nothing.
little kids growing up too fast - stay little with no responsibilities as long as possible!
donald trumps awful hair - how does he get it to stay like that?! Probably aerosol can hairspray!
self image -does plastic surgery really make you happier?
textbook prices - ugh. why do I have to pay so much when you pay me so little when I return it?
cruelty to animals - most of the time I like animals more than people, treat them with respect.
bullying - that kid you're picking on is going to end up being your rich boss someday.
calories in german chocolate cake - why are there so many?!
politics - they all lie & abuse their power... and not for the greater good of the country.
equality - do men really need to earn more than women? It's 2011.
side salads in restaurants - iceburg lettuce is nasty.... romaine or spinach are sooo much better
horror movies - don't look back while running, you're going to fall! Run from the noise!
people coming to my door to preach to me - I don't come to your house and try to influence the way you believe so I don't appreciate you doing it to me, especially when I'm in pj's.
corporate bullshit - it's not what you know, it's who you know and how much ass you kiss.
racism - under the skin, we're all the same. treat others the way you want to be treated.
food packaging - do we really need everything wrapped in plastic?
Gas-guzzling vehicles - unnecessary.
dishes - they should wash themselves, then put themselves away :)
mean rude people - just be nice. please.

But most of all....

I would like to change the distance between the states so that I could see my friends and family without having to drive 14 hours. or at least change the way we travel so that I could blink and twitch my nose (or something simple and cheap, not like $400 plane tickets) and be there :) I miss them.

what i'm into (day 15)

On my nightstand.... Fallen & Torment by Lauren Kate. I'm addicted. Hooked. Can't stop reading. I finished Fallen and now I'm about 1/2 way through Torment.... not too bad for only reading before bed (which is why I've been staying up waaay too late... and I desperately need my beauty sleep or I'm cranky/non-functioning/grumpy).

want to read... The 4 books I got in the mail last week....

tv show worth watching... Hmmm... the only 'show' I've been watching lately is NBA basketball. Which btw, the OKC Thunder did amazing!! Not bad considering they are all younger than I am.... now I have to cheer for the Mavericks (even though they beat us) because Dirk is a machine!

movie I've seen... My bf and I went to see The Hangover 2 last Friday.... hilarious! I kind of knew what to expect so it wasn't quite as funny as the first but I definitely laughed throughout the whole movie... and Bradley Cooper is dreamy!

in my ears... I've been listening to the Pretty Black Chains a lot lately, so seeing them live at their CD release party (and getting a free CD!!!) was amazing! This is my favorite song of theirs....

items of note...  My garden is growing!!!!! Check it out :)
my ivy!!!!! <3 it!

my bulbs grew!

no clue what that little tree thing is but I love it!

blackberry bush/vine (whatever, it's huge!)

little blackberries.... not too much longer :)

pepper plants

tomato plants

my pretty spreading flowers

what I'm looking forward to... My bf is putting together a basketball goal as I type (in our dining room.... the mosquitoes are CRAZY out there!) and I haven't played basketball in forever! I mean, who says short girls can't shoot hoops? :)

I also posted a few new small paintings on etsy yesterday and I am looking forward to adding a few more.

I have a photo-taking date this Sunday with my lovely friend, Carin (also a fellow vegetarian) and my amazing friend Amber (who is graciously letting us use her fancy schmancy camera). Carin majored in photography (and now is going to be a veterinarian) so is going to use her awesome skills and take pictures of all of my paintings so I can see about making some prints (thank Laurie for the idea!)

Maybe most of all I'm looking forward to finding out what this month has in store for me... I feel like I learn something new about myself every single day and each sunrise is a sign of a new creative journey.

Day 15 - A picture of something you want to do before you die

I want to build an 'off the grid'  home/ art studio with solar panels, a garden, candlelight, peace & quiet.
