I Sit and Think
I sit beside the fire and think
of all that I have seen,
of meadow-flowers and butterflies
in summers that have been;
Of yellow leaves and gossamer
in autumns that there were,
with morning mist and silver sun
and wind upon my hair.
I sit beside the fire and think
of how the world will be
when winter comes without a spring
that I shall never see.
For still there are so many things
that I have never seen:
in every wood in every spring
there is a different green.
I sit beside the fire and think
of people long ago,
and people who will see a world
that I shall never know.
But all the while I sit and think
of times there were before,
I listen for returning feet
and voices at the door.

Also here is a sneak preview of the first stage of my newest painting.... It's a 30" x 40" and I don't really have a plan for it... I started thinking wine, which lead me to think of grapes, which lead me to purple circles and I really like the combination of gray and purple... so that lead me to where I am right now... hopefully I'll get to work on it more today so I can post new pictures tomorrow!
OO lovely poem :) And lovely painting also <3
ReplyDeleteoh, I love that poem! I love the painting as well. I have always liked the combination of grey and purple!
ReplyDeleteI love that poem! I'm a huge LOTR fanatic, and that poem is from the trilogy. :) I even memorized it! It's so funny that you chose it to post. :)
ReplyDeleteAnd the beginning of the painting looks good- be sure and post a photo when you finish it! :)
